Nokia share jumps at talk of Lenovo interest; Lenovo denies rumor

It’s a pretty well known fact that Nokia is in a pretty bad state. There has been talk of a Microsoft takeover sometime, but a recent report citing a Lenovo takeover incited a 11 percent share jump for the finish mobile phone maker reports Reuters.
Nokia has declined to comment on the rumor, while a Lenovo executive has flatly called this a joke.
“This must be a joke, there’s nothing ongoing ” said Gianfranco Lanci, who runs Lenovo’s operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Since announcing its strategic partnership with Microsoft in February 2011, Nokia’s shares have dropped more than 70 percent. Earlier in the year, Samsung usurped Nokia as the largest smartphone vendor in the world.
