PlayStation 3 gets a native YouTube app

PlayStation 3 users have always had access to YouTube. However, the experience has not always been ideal, because YouTube was only available through its web browser. Well, that is about to change as now there is a native YouTube application for the PS3 that can be downloaded for free via the PlayStation store.
The new YouTube app improves the experience by leaps and bounds, as it adds a better search interface with support for instant results as the user types in the query. Users will also be able to access their subscribed YouTube channels. Another neat addition is the ability to pair the PS3 YouTube app with one’s smartphone, which makes the smartphone act like a remote control for YouTube on the PS3.
YouTube has not specified if these feature will be restricted to a particular platform, so it remains to be seen what all platforms get this ability, however Android support is a no brainer.
Using a smartphone users can control video and navigate the YouTube UI. The launch of the YouTube app for PS3 comes after YouTube shipped an app for the PlayStation Vita. YouTube also recently updated its Xbox app for an updated Xbox Live experience.
