Samsung starts rolling out Galaxy Note 10.1 globally [video]

Samsung today announced it has started rolling out the global launch for its Galaxy Note 10.1 Android tablet. With a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, Samsung is touting the tablet’s multi-tasking capabilities, especially with its pen input system. A video demo showcases a new user interface (UI) where users can have a different app running on each half of the display and copy/paste information from each other. The UI also shows the pop-play interface at work that Samsung had first shown on the Galaxy S III. This Android 4.0 ICS tablet comes pre-loaded with Adobe’s Photoshop Touch image editing app for Android. Read on for the complete specs and a video demo.
On the hardware front, the Galaxy Note 10.1 has a 10.1-inch WXGA (1280×800 pixels) display, a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM. It will come in 16/32/64GB variants, all of which have a microSD card slot that can accommodate up to 64GB of additional storage. On the connectivity side, we have HSPA+, dual-band Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi Direct, A-GPS and IR for remote control apps. It also has a 5-megapixel camera on the rear and a 1.9-megapixel camera on the front.
On paper, the Galaxy Note 10.1 does look like an impressive product and its S-Pen interface differentiates it substantially in the crowded Android tablet market. We don’t have a release date or price for India, yet, but we will keep you posted as and when we hear from Samsung.
