Sony Xperia Ion launched in India for Rs 35,999

Sony has sneakily launched the Xperia Ion Android smartphone in India via online deals site, Snapdeal. Priced at Rs 35,999, the Ion will compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S III and the HTC One X. Sony had earlier announced its intentions to launch the Xperia Ion in India in August. The smartphone currently runs on Android 4.0 ICS and like all other devices in the Xperia range launched this year, we are not sure when it will be updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It sports a massive 4.55-inch 1280×720 pixel display and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The Xperia Ion features 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage memory along with a microSD card slot. Other features include a 12.1-megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel front camera and most of the connectivity options one can expect including Wi-Fi, DLNA and NFC.
