Steve Jobs apparently soaked in JRD Tata’s bathtub: hearsay

Include Steve Jobs in anything and it is likely to grab the attention of almost every tech savvy person and this minor tidbit in a MidDay column is no different. Columnist Malavika Sangghvi seems to have information that no one else does and no one brought it up during the frenzy of stories we heard about Jobs when he passed away. In her latest column, she claims Steve Jobs had a bath in JRD Tata’s bathtub in the Taj hotel when he was backpacking in India to attain spirituality.
Apparently, the legendary JRD Tata was also interested in hippie culture and we are told he would invite hippies living in seedy hotels nearby, who were in need for a nice meal or a bath. Turns out, two of Sangghvi’s close friends were also a part of one such group and now, after all these years, they claim that Steve Jobs used the services of Tata’s bathtub thrice!
What’s more she also claims that even though it wasn’t mentioned in Walter Isaacson’s biography, everyone knows Jobs lived in one of the seedy hotels in Mumbai and was always in need of a bath. It does not seem to me that we are talking about the same Steve Jobs, the man who was averse to taking baths and was made to work night shifts at Atari because his stink bothered other employees.
