Despite complaints from its Windows hardware partners, Microsoft is going full steam ahead with the development of the next version of Surface. It is looking for alternative power sources, new construction materials including ceramics, metals and what not apart from innovating on the manufacturing process, like it has done for with Vapour Mag on the current crop of Surface devices. Microsoft is looking at Physical Vapour Deposition coatings that add a micron thick layer that makes the device cooler, more hardy and waterproof. This technology is used in Formula One car engines, luxury watches and waterproof phones.
